THE MUNDANE HOUR (parts 1,2,3) this is the mundane hour welcome to the mundane hour welcome to the mundane the mundane 24 and counting but you love your sleep 15 minus having to eat what do you have left over a little low on bread clean and dress your head get your wheels and your ass in line behind all the others so much stays the same so much to maintain welcome to the mundane hour the thoughts I'd be thinking ooh, the things I'd be making if my mind and my hands were free hands that show too many veins give too much away I've got the hands of Dorian Gray but they get the job done hands to scrub away leftovers from the other day open up the bills to paper clutter will consume me outlive me, it evolves like the cockroach it will cheat the atom bomb welcome to the mundane hour doo 'n' doo... in a dream, what a dream you and me, doing nothing can you see, the busy bee working his caffeine buzz Zzzzzzzz tt's true that he's taking time to smell beautiful flowers like every allergy-free-body says you should do what's it like to be a part of a ritual of mating? he probably loves his job doo 'n' doo... in a day, a perfect day time would be like a wave underneath me I would ride it brave and sure but not too fast in a day, a perfect day could I make, every moment every hour be a part of something that would last? something that would last in a dream, what a dream...

Statue Girl 03:15
STATUE GIRL If I was a statue would I look just like I do? only so much colder and so much whiter than I’ve been in any winter naked I guess I hope like all my favorite statues are standing proud without the need of a fig leaf that’s the kind of statue girl I would want to be statue girl your eyes seem to see beyond you and me can you show me? can you show me statue girl you’ve got such authority unencumbered by modesty but do you ever feel that life is passing you by? in the closed and quiet night do you look outside through the French door glass do you see the wet green grass do you long to feel it in between your toes feel the night air tickling your nose ah-ahchoo! statue girl come on, play with me there’s so much you should see can I show you? c’mon, let me show you statue girl your eyes seem to see beyond you and me can you show me can you show me statue girl?

IF I LOST YOU I’d get along if I lost you I’d turn it into a decision of mine no one else would be convinced of the story but I would believe it in time I’d carry on if I lost you finally let my bad side prevail I might discover a talent for larceny without your goodness around to inspire me and if I lost you if I lost you what would I do? I’d find Lady Luck if I lost you laugh in her face declare her my enemy vow to get even though I’d have no reason to believe I’d find victory and if I lost you if I lost you please let me have some modest dignity if I have to face that day or better yet let it be comic like Barney Fife explaining how a prisoner got away I’d get along if I lost you I’d learn to hold my face a certain way open my eyes in youthful surprise my mouth would need a perennial smile chin up, drink up with boisterous friends bring down my expectations again tell myself you and I weren’t meant to be swear to convince myself eventually if I lost you
5.
LIFETIME SUPPLY OF LOVE you wouldn’t know a diamond if you bit down and lost a tooth you wouldn’t know to call me if you’re stuck in a phone booth I’m waiting just to give you my lifetime supply of love you couldn’t spot a bullseye at the bottom of your whiskey glass you wouldn’t know a fox if one ran up and bit you on the ass I can’t believe you’re passing up my lifetime supply of love I got a lifetime supply of love you wouldn’t know a hit if you heard I wanna hold your hand you’d have to think about it if they’d asked you to join the band just like you gotta think about my lifetime supply of love I got a lifetime supply of love I’ll bet you wouldn’t recognize or welcome opportunity if after knocking once she knocked your door down and wiped her feet can you hear me knocking with my lifetime supply of love I got a lifetime supply of love

What If I 05:04
WHAT IF I what if I told you something I thought I’d never say what if I let you in to stay what if I sent you letters with the words “I LOVE YOU!” right on the envelope a heart at the bottom of the exclamation point what if I sang to you like this: baby!baby!baby!baby!baby! or maybe: I honestly... what if I what if I practiced a sultry gaze and took to smoking long thin cigarettes what if I threw back my head and gave a throaty laugh when you showed your witty side what if I what do you think about when you sit there with the world shut out what if I never noticed what if I never asked it’s not that I can’t be alone that’s not hard for me but what if I really want your company what if I talked in that little voice the one that always makes you laugh and made that squeeze-doll sound when you squeezed me remember when you wanted to squeeze me what if I let you dress me up just the way you like me what if I danced in front of you but wouldn’t let you touch me remember when you couldn’t help but touch me what do you think about when you sit there with the world shut out what if I never noticed what if I never asked it’s not that I can’t be alone that’s not hard for me but what if I really want your company what if I beat my feminine fists against your masculine chest just like a scene in a movie never wanting to hurt you then collapsing against you what if I lay right next to you and beat my fists against the wall what if I told you all you need to say what if I went away

KICK OF DESIRE someone said love is nice work if you can get it so I go downtown stand in line ‘til the bartender shouts what’ll you have it’s a little too cool in here but not as cold as outside I want to be beautiful I want to be invisible this desire ticks inside me this desire kicks inside and the kick of desire I cannot still I don’t know if I ever will I can sense you have a destiny can you help me find mine? I’m not meant for this mediocrity I don’t mean to be a bad girl I just can’t control it most of the time I want to be powerful I want to be exceptional this desire ticks inside me this desire kicks inside and the kick of desire I cannot still I don’t know if I ever will

TRANQUILIZER GUN the monster that used to live inside your closet has crawled into your outgrown bed he’s messin’ nightly with your molting hormone-crazed head some nights you want to scream under those covers and the bikini posters don’t help pillows don’t smother any pain hey there lonely, bored and horny you’re not the only one you wish that you were numb put down that tranquilizer gun put down that tranquilizer gun mmmm...la la la la you’re still so young though you could swear you’d count one hundred million sheep and not fall asleep fall asleep you won’t tell dad you can’t tell mom afraid that everybody will tell you it’s wrong but they felt the same way once and fired their tranquilizer guns one way or another caged the monster or took a lover your time will come

ALL THAT REMAINS upon my life upon my honor she spoke these strange words into the mirror I pawned my life and lost the ticket for a while but I will return I will claim all that remains some time ago somewhere along the way I marked myself down and that’s where I stayed stolen or lost now time seems still before me and I’ve nothing better to do than take inventory of all that remains all that remains I never thought I would feel so tired but I don’t want to rest not now, not yet I have a story and no one tells it like I do and it ain’t over no, it’s to be continued upon my life upon my honor I make my claim I give my name to all that remains all that remains

LOOKING FOR THE MISSING I ask the man what do you do? he must know what I mean he says “I check my mailbox for missing persons you know those cards that ask have you seen me? I study the faces and picture the places I’ve been to of late.” he smiled as he tapped his head and said “I use this computer to generate the time-lapsed faces the missing clues and traces then I get in my car and I drive.” I ask the woman how do you do? ‘cause I like the way that sounds and she must know what I mean she looks at me without a trace of understanding on her face then she looks right past me I’m waiting for her to answer me we’re looking for the missing sweetheart, I ask what should we do to keep this love of ours from disappearing we could lock the doors and stay in bed but when the food runs out how we gonna get fed? looking for the Holy Grail or at least a grail-shaped beacon looking for someone to tell the secrets your heart has been keeping I ask my mother what would you do if you could do it all over again she understands the question like so many her girl has asked she holds me in her arms her smile holds just a little sadness she doesn’t have to answer doesn’t have to say a thing she’s looking for the missing just like me
